A major new sports campus is taking shape in Willoughby, adding to the schools, parks and recreation that are turning this Langley neighbourhood into a complete community.
Smith Athletic Training Centre is a 108,000 square foot indoor soccer facility at 7550 208A Street, targeting completion in Spring 2027. It will house a full size indoor pitch beneath sweeping mass timber arches and joins three outdoor synthetic turf fields that opened on the campus in September 2025.

What Is Being Built
The training centre sits near the southeast corner of 208A Street and 78 Avenue in Willoughby’s Smith neighbourhood. According to the Township of Langley, its investment in the first two phases is just under $130 million, covering both the outdoor park improvements and the indoor facility.
Acton Ostry Architects and MJMA Architecture & Design designed the building, and construction began in 2024 under a progressive design build process.
The indoor pitch matches the dimensions of the outdoor fields. Spectator seating, change rooms, a food and beverage area, a merchandise store, and training and activity rooms complete the program. The defining feature is a series of solid glulam arches spanning about 80 metres across the hall.
A Complete Soccer Campus
The 23 acre campus already includes three synthetic fields, player and referee shelters, and a grandstand. Township plans also call for a large plaza, a concession, public washrooms, a playground, landscaped open space, parking, and new road and pedestrian connections.
The outdoor fields opened in September 2025, with shelters and some spectator seating added in 2026. The Township describes the campus as part of a broader effort to expand youth soccer access and meet growing demand for synthetic fields.
Schools and Sports Side by Side
Two new public schools will open beside the campus. According to the Langley School District, a new middle school and Emery Dosdall Secondary School are scheduled to open in September 2027, with combined capacity for about 2,800 students.
