Earth Day only comes once a year, but the values behind it guide everything we do at Zenterra. That’s why when the City of Surrey invited the community to celebrate at Party for the Planet 2026, we were proud to show up.

Surrey Goes All Out for the Planet

On Saturday, April 25, Surrey Civic Plaza came alive with over 15,000 people for BC’s largest Earth Day event. Now in its 15th year, Party for the Planet drew families, neighbours, and community-minded organizations together for a free, full-day celebration of sustainability and environmental stewardship.

The energy was hard to miss. Live music filled the Earth and Meadow Stages, dance battles drew crowds to the Community Stage, and the Urban Safari Rescue Society brought snakes and rescued exotic animals to the delight of younger attendees. Families explored a sustainable marketplace with over 25 local vendors, a free rock-climbing wall, and blender bikes where guests could pedal their way to a smoothie.

The Surrey Parks native plant sale was once again one of the event’s most popular attractions, selling out of more than 1,500 affordable native plants, while the event also shone a spotlight on the City’s environmental initiatives, including the Climate Action Team, Climate-Friendly Homes, and ReThink Waste programs.

One of the day’s most anticipated moments was the Welcome Ceremony with the Mayor and Council, followed by a first-come, first-served giveaway of 750 complimentary tomato plants. A Salmon Walk offered hands-on environmental education, where attendees could paint a wooden salmon to be displayed in City Centre and take home a limited-edition Fish Keychain. It was a reminder that sustainability isn’t just a concept — it’s something Surrey’s community lives and breathes.

Why Zenterra Was There

Our participation in Party for the Planet is a natural extension of our Zenterra Green Initiative. Through this program, we partner with the City of Surrey’s ReLeaf tree-planting initiative to help expand and protect Surrey’s urban forest. Every year, Zenterra team members roll up their sleeves alongside local volunteers to plant trees and shrubs across parks and schools, keeping the communities where we build green, healthy, and vibrant for generations to come.

At this year’s event, our team handed out reusable tote bags as a small, practical reminder that the choices we make every day add up.
